Women's Giving Circle

The School of Hope has been impacted by the wonderful organization, The Women’s Giving Circle. The School of Hope was given a grant in the amount of $2, 965.00, entitled: Adaptive Learning Materials and Books.

This Adaptive Reading Program provides opportunities for parents to interact with their child while reading. It also allows students with disabilities to be able to enjoy reading without being over-stimulated by too many words or too many pictures on a page. Each book has fewer words, fewer pictures so that a child can sit down and interact with a book in a positive manner.

Reading allows that special bonding time to take place between a parent and child. It also takes place between a teacher and student. Many parents of disabled children have had negative experiences because the reading materials that they have tried to read with their children was not appropriate and their children were not able to enjoy reading a book with their child. This grant will allow just that!

Adapted Reading books allow children to open a New World that they never knew existed!

Adapted Reading Books allow parents opportunities to sit down and read a book to their child for the first time! During the Pandemic, many students were not engaged with reading at home because they did not have the appropriate reading materials. Adapted books can provide that appropriate reading instruction and do so at the level where the child is currently working.

Reading opens that door for positive interactions between the student and the parent, and others. Reading allows a child to learn many new skills that pertain to life skills which are necessary to have for the rest of their lives.

Giving parents the opportunity to share a book with their children is priceless.

Thank you to The Women’s Giving Circle for allowing this opportunity to take place for many children and parents who will be forever impacted by your willingness to make a difference in the community
